Talking about the revolution

Yesterday in Marseille we had a big event to launch the Nouveau parti Anticapitaliste: a 10-hour meeting with forums and debates, and a creche, and concerts, and a speech by Olivier Besancenot the charismatic leader of LCR. I had brought my current portable WIP, a mouse cozy in purple bamboo yarn, and when I got it out of my bag, Aurélien, a young hothead whose cut-and-dry political pronouncements sometimes border on the Stalinist (but I love him), said, in an unusually tender tone: "Oh,my mum knits too." So I gave him a good talk about the ideological implications of crafting, the feminist issues it is linked with, and was amused to see the disbelief in his eyes when I told him about the Red and Black Ravellers group.
