My brother

Pendant son séjour à Istanbul pour voir sa soeur, Alexis a repéré un tag au pochoir qui portait son nom. Qui plus est, il lui a trouvé une vague ressemblance avec lui-même (moi aussi d'ailleurs). La légende en est "Mon frère Alexis".

We wondered who this brother was, especially as Alexis is hardly a typical Turkish first name, and we discovered that this stencil is a tribute to Alexis Grigoropoulos, a Greek teenager whose death sparked off a massive youth uprising in 2008. I find the caption all the more moving as Greeks and Turks have not often considered each other as brothers.
