We had assumed, rightly, that they would sail through the first round, and as our train pulled into Victoria, we got the message from Cécile (second violin) that they were playing the semi-finals. So we went to listen to them the next day at Wigmore Hall, and again on Sunday night for the final, in which they got second prize, to our and many other spectators' surprise, because very clearly, they were the best.
